Things to do in Dallas THIS month!

October is here, and I can hardly believe it arrived so fast. If you’re in the great state of Texas, you know that it’s time for the state fair. And that’s not the only thing that’s happening this month either. Keep reading to find out a host of things you can do in the big D!

FREE activities in the city

  1. Klyde Warren Park - This is one of our favorite places to visit, and especially in the cooler months. There are a host of foods trucks from snowballs to pizza to bbq. You can take a chair or blanket and hang out on the lawn. Even at all hours of the day, you’ll find families at the kids’ park and playing in the fountains. They also have a fountain light show every night from 7p-10p. Click here for more information on their event schedule.

  2. Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) - This museum has four levels of history, and it’s free entry! There are some exhibits where admittance requires a membership or a paid ticket, but majority of it is free and open to the public. If you can’t find street parking, you can park in the garage for $12. The museum is located right across from Klyde Warren Park, so you could make a whole day out of it! For more information on visiting the DMA, you can click here.

Paid activities in the city

  1. State Fair of Texas - As all Texans know, the state of fair opened on Sep. 28th and will remain so until Oct. 22nd. If you’ve never been, this would be a great year to attend. Their are new attractions, food vendors (and also the classics!) and rides that you won’t want to miss. Entry prices start at $24pp. For tickets and more information, click here.

  2. Taste of the Trolley - This event should be a fun one! It’s the annual fundraiser to help support the McKinney trolley (which is a free service by the way!). Tickets are $125 and include tastings from over 16 uptown and downtown Dallas restaurants. It also includes live music and an open bar. To purchase your tickets, click here.

New favorite restaurant!

Karlos and I have been visiting this new restaurant in East Dallas’ Lakewood neighborhood named, Jia Asian Bistro. We went their for the first time last month and have been back at least twice. They have traditional Thai and Chinese entrees, but also sushi. I know this might sound a little “iffy” with all these options in one place, but the food did not disappoint. I’m even going to include a few pictures of our dishes for you. Give it a try, and let me know if you do!

Do you guys like this new segment on what to do in Dallas? I’m going to try and keep this up as it will also help me keep track of what we’re doing in the city! Let me know if you decide to try any of the things above or you might see me at one!

Thanks for stopping by the blog and I’ll catch you next time!

xoxo,

Brittany
