HOT MODERN GLAM PT. 2 - LIVING AND DINING ROOM

This living room space was completely in need of a change. The floor was still covered in card paper and plastic. There were trash bags on the windows as curtains. The furniture was about 25 years old, and there was zero storage.

The first decision I made was new furniture. That was an easy one. The second decision was to add built in cabinetry to surround the TV. This was the way to more storage. The final decisions were installing a new fan, painting the walls and adding recessed lighting.

These changes made all the difference in how the space went from unorganized to optimized. The custom cabinetry alone was able to house books, decorative accessories, and many other items that the homeowner needed a place to store. I have before and after photos of the living room so that you can see the improvements for yourself.

We stayed mostly neutral with the design, but brought in some color with the curtains, rugs and pillows. This blue cheetah print rug is one of my favs from this project. It’s bold, yet subtle. Let’s head over to the dining room.

In this part of the project, I wanted to do something fun. Thankfully, this client trusted the process and wanted something a little glam, but bold. Insert dining room. A beautiful, textured wallpaper was installed. In order to keep down on the room doing too much I made sure to do solid colors on all other items in the room. And on the curtains, a linen fabric was chosen to complement the walls.

I also kept the rug neutral in here since we had the bold wall. The chairs are a velvet fabric, very glam, with a gold metal frame. The dark wood slab table with the gold metal frame worked so well that I just had to use it. The final topping on this room is the chandelier! The marbled glass pieces and gold hardware really leveled up the glam in this space. You can view before and after photos of the dining space below.
