From Outdated to Rehabilitated - My Bathroom Renovation Project
Hey everyone!!
This week I’m sharing all the plans from our hall bathroom renovation project back in 2021. It was a complete gut job. Before I show you the design board, I want to show you want the space looked like before. I think this space was updated before we moved in, but just like our kitchen, I wanted it to reflect our style and function better us. This project was completed in the Spring One Room Challenge, so you might see references on some of the photos. Here are a few before pictures:

My dream was to knock down the wall to the left of the sink, to give more countertop space and have a sliding door, but that’s where the hot water heater lives and it’s a huge expense to move (deep sigh). I was able to stain the cabinetry in this nice light stain option.
My biggest issue in this bathroom was that there wasn’t enough counter surface or storage. The counter also didn’t have a backsplash. To combat this, we brought in a wider vanity and had it customized to fit two drawers and one door to maximize the storage space in the cabinet. And of course, a 4” backsplash was added to give it a clean and professional look.
Here is the design board:
I want to note that I did end up doing a stain on the vanity instead of the black paint color and I used black hardware to balance it out instead of the gold.
My personal design style is modern coastal, so I'm using traditional black and white hues, but brining in some subtle pattern and texture with the wallpaper and flooring. I have listed out links to where you can find these items:
Undermount sink provided by Ferguson/Signature Hardware
Toilet provided by Ferguson/Signature Hardware
Tub provided by Ferguson/Signature Hardware
Cabinet Hardware provided by Ferguson/Signature Hardware
Flooring provided by ProSource/SOCI
Shower Surround provided by ProSource/SOCI
Dolomite Countertop provided by Texas Counterfitters
Wallpaper provided by Eijffinger/Brewster Home
Vanity Mirror - The mirror I used in no longer available, but this one is similar in style.
Vanity Light - This is not the original light on the design board, but it’s the one we ended up installing into the space. The other one didn’t offer a warm light and wasn’t bright enough for what we needed.
Usually, with client projects, I don't share sources since they are paying for my services, but I’m glad to be sharing sources on this project since it’s my own! Once the design board was finalized and all my sponsors were on board to help me we were good to order. I did not start the demo until all of the items had been delivered. Here is progress photo from after demolition, but before tiling:
we added a niche in the shower so we wouldn’t have to use a showerhead caddy to hold items
It was a pretty smooth project overall, and as I mentioned, it was a part of the eight week One Room Challenge (ORC) Spring 2021. I was slightly concerned that it wasn’t going to get done in time on the last week, but we made!
Here are the after photos of the project:
